At the recent Kent Care Awards, hosted by Kent Integrated Care Alliance, Park View Care Centre’s Nurse Abbi Ramsden was announced as the winner of this year’s Specialist Care Champion Award for showing exceptional insight and empathy and going above and beyond what is normally expected within her role.

In its 6th year, the judges felt she had truly achieved trusting relationships within her role that enables the people she cares and supports to flourish, be better understood and enjoy a better quality of life.

With over a decade of experience in Nursing, Abbi has been part of the Park View family for the last three years.  Abbi was nominated by Custom Relations Manager Emma Andrews, “I nominated Abbi, because she always says she is just doing her job, but she does so much more than this. Abbi fully supports those she cares for to reach their full potential, whatever their diagnosis. She is also a confidant for the family members, who often remark how she has supported them through difficult times. Abbi always has a positive can-do approach and a wonderful smile – she brightens everyone’s day!”

In a celebratory ceremony at the home, Abbi was presented with her award by Head Resident Roger Neve, “I’m very proud to win this award. Being a nurse at Park View isn’t a job, it’s a part of my life and I cherish every resident in my care. The team here are amazing, from the carers, housekeepers, admin, reception and maintenance – it’s their award too. It is such a privilege to care for the residents and support them and their families through their darkest days and I hope that what we do makes those days a little brighter “

Abbi, now goes on to the regional South East finals of the Great British Care Awards.
