Supporting the Community- Park View Care Centre Hosts Understanding Dementia Event

Park View Care Centre is hosting an Understanding Dementia Event on the 30th April from 11:30 am- 1:00 pm.

The nursing and residential dementia care home in Park Farm, Ashford has recently undergone a renovation and restructure of their dementia services. General Manager Mel alongside the group’s Dementia and Lifestyle Manager Angela Reynolds have used their combined 30 plus years of dementia care experience to spearhead the development.

As part of the development of the home’s services, they have dedicated themselves to organise events that offer support and advice to those living with or supporting someone living with Dementia in Ashford and surrounding areas.

The Understanding Dementia event has been organised by the home’s General Manager Mel and will include a presentation by recognised dementia expert and trainer Time Forester Morgan from the Dementia Training Company. Tim has been at the forefront of many pioneering initiatives in the dementia care field. He has worked in the private, voluntary, and independent sectors both in the UK and Overseas and has always had a passion for developing his own and others’ understanding, knowledge, and practice.

There are many more plans to continue developing the dementia services further throughout 2024, General Manager Mel explained, ‘As we set out in February over the last few months, we have launched several events for not only residents and their loved ones within our home but for the local community. The Understanding Dementia event will be a perfect opportunity, with the reassuring presence of professionals and experts on hand to offer guidance and support, to meet people who have been touched by dementia, who are either living with dementia themselves, or supporting a loved one who is. We hope that this will be the first of many similar events.’
