On the 25th of November Manton Heights Care Centre in Bedford are opening their doors for a special open day which will demonstrate the innovative technology and services that the home has incorporated in to their Lifestyle Programme to support the residents emotional and mental wellbeing.
General Manager Rachel Smith said, ‘We are really excited about the open day and welcoming anyone living with a dementia and their loved ones to come along and see the demonstrations, experience them for themselves first hand and then take a tour of the rest of our wonderful facilities. There will also be some great homemade cakes and refreshments on offer.’
The home which supports residents living with Dementia has over the last year has partnered with a number of high-tech and innovative services using the latest university-led research to offer residents the chance to enjoy healthy, vibrant and fulfilling lives.
They include, The Digital Rainbow a giant touch screen that offers fun therapeutic benefits through games, images and sounds.
The Motitech Bike system which lets users use safe indoor bikes, set up with screens to allow them to tour the world; exercising in a fun, gentle way with beautiful sights and sounds.
Immerse Health Headsets which use Virtual Reality technology to allow the resident access to whole new and old worlds; whether the user wants a calming, restorative environment, a familiar ‘day trip’ or even canoeing from the comfort of your armchair.
The final innovation service is the Famileo. Like a personal, secure Facebook setting, multiple family members can share messages, photos and more, while the resident can also reply. Once a week, the lifestyle teams can print all of that week’s messages to produce their very only Gazette. This personalised newsletter, in digital and print form, is hugely popular.
The event is on Friday 25th of November from 13:00-pm-16:00pm; home-made cakes and refreshments will be available. If you’d like further information please give Lisa a call on 01234 267 556
