Romford Care Home Hosts McMillan Coffee Morning

A massive £120.00 was raised when residents, the Romford Care Home team, family, friends and the local Romford community came together for Romford Care Home’s recent McMillian Coffee Morning for McMillan Cancer Support.

A charity close to everyone’s heart, this now yearly event at the home goes from strength to strength to raise funds and of course awareness of the wonderful work of the McMillan Nurses.

The home’s Chef Pauline, who is also a qualified pastry chef pulled out all the stops. Renowned for her cakes and pastries especially on special occasions, Pauline certainly didn’t disappoint with an array of delicious treats on offer, especially the strawberries and cream gateaux.

Everyone got involved in the spirit of the fund raising and over the last few weeks the residents and the Lifestyle Team were busy designing and making tie-die t-shirts and canvas tote bags to sell during the coffee morning; as you can imagine these were extremely popular!

As well as the scrumptious cakes, refreshments there was a performance from Violinist Rachel and Guitarist Glyn and a special visit from Nationwide therapy dog Watson.

Planning of these events and their success is due the dedication and hard work of the whole team, especially the home’s Lifestyle Team Stephanie, Hayley, Cydney and Courtney who are central to these events held at the home.

In all a great day was had by all, and more importantly vital funds were raised and awareness of the work carried out by the charity was recognised and celebrated.
