A Proud Night for RCH Care Homes at the East of England Great British Care Awards.

RCH Care Homes celebrated a fantastic evening at the 2023 East of England Regional Great British Care Awards. The glittering awards evening showcased the best of the best in social care in the East of England Region.

RCH Care Homes were represented by Orchard House Care Home from Wisbech and Atlas Supported Living, who are part of the RCH Group. In total we were delighted to have a total of 14 finalists, a very proud achievement for us all.

The team from Orchard House, who support residents living with nursing, residential and dementia needs, had a total of seven nominations across multiple departments.

The culinary team were nominated in the Care Home Cook Award, Miranda Robinson the home’s Lifestyle Lead was nominated in the Lifestyle Award and Martin Field was nominated in the Palliative Care Award. There were two finalists in the Putting People First Award, Pat Hooks and Kim Ashby and Kasun Fernando was nominated in Care Newcomer Award.

Finally, Honey Berry, the home’s Dementia Ambassador was nominated in the Care Assessor Award and we’re thrilled to share that she was announced as the East of England winner in this category.

The judges said about Honey, ‘Honey is so passionate and is clearly made to be in care! She is fantastic, hardworking and loves being at RCH, using her personal experience to grow as a unit manager. She is exceptional, knows her staff and residents so well and ensures everyone wants to keep growing and developing.’

Honey now goes on to the GBCA’s Grand National final which is held in March 2024.

Our other seven finalists were from Atlas Supported Living, who provide support and accommodation for people with learning disabilities, mental support needs and autism were honoured to have a total of seven nominations.

Manager Jenny Ward was a finalist in the Home Care Manger award, Amy Flood was a finalist in the Co-Production Award and Alex Husson was a finalist in the Ancillary Award. There were three finalists in the Support Worker Award Katie Worship, Jane Storey and Ashley Stepney.

We are thrilled to share that Ashley won a highly commended for this category. The judges said, ‘Ashley really goes above and beyond to support service users to live fulfilled life. Assisting them in any way he can, it is these qualities that make him exceptional.’

His commendation is a true testament to Ashley’s commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those he supports.

The final nomination that Atlas was nominated for was the Supported Living Care Team Award, which they were announced as overall winners.

Atlas exemplified a shared vision, agreed-upon goals, an exceptional communication process, and a profound commitment to dignity, privacy, and respect for both tenants and team members. These qualities, among others, have made Atlas stand out in the eyes of the GBCA judges.

The judges said, ‘This team truly go above and beyond to ensure the best outcomes for those they support. Well, done to the Atlas Supported Living Team – you are worthy winners of this award.’

Winning the Supported Living Care Team award is an outstanding achievement and the team now go on as finalists at the National Great British Care Awards.

We are proud and honoured by all of the dedicated and committed teams at RCH Care Homes, they embody the values of respectful, caring and honestly every day. Celebrating our team members at awards like these allows us to acknowledge their achievements at such a special occasion.
