~ “Positive changing times, shining alight for us all” – Maxine Bain, Orchard House Manager ~

Orchard House Care Home definitely started the year as they mean to go on. They have led the way in the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations for both residents and staff but they also launched their 30th Anniversary celebrations for RCH Care Homes which will see a year of events and new initiatives being launched throughout 2021. The residents have also enjoyed the start of the January lifestyle events campaign which has included taking part in National Shortbread Day, International Flower Day, Burns Night, National Puzzle Day, Make a Wish Come True Day, National Croissant Day and Storytelling Week.

During the month of January, residents and staff have been part of the first round of Covid-19 vaccinations in the Wisbech area. Coordinated by Wisbech Primary Care Network (PCN), parts of the NHS and the Local Authority, they liaised with Maxine Bain, the home’s Registered Manager, to schedule a time to come in to the home and vaccinate all residents and staff who were able to receive the vaccine.

The momentous and positive impact of the Nursing and Residential Dementia home’s participation in the first round of vaccinations was reiterated by Maxine, We are delighted to announce that we have commenced the vaccinations programme for residents and staff. All of us felt very privileged to be part of a programme that will hopefully allow us all to regain past normality beyond COVID.  We are thankful for being part of these initial stages of the National Vaccination program and are so grateful for the support, professionalism and fluid approach undertaken by Wisbech PCN, the NHS and our Local Authority”.

Regional Director Mark McDonald summed Orchard Houses start to the year, “It has been a busy month for Orchard House Care Home and RCH Care Homes. We are firstly incredible proud and thankful for the work undertaken by the senior team at the homes, Wisbech PCN, the NHS and Local CCG in starting the process of vaccinating the residents and staff. Throughout this pandemic, the safety and wellbeing, both physically and emotionally, of residents and our teams have been at the heart of everything we do, making this moment so special and very emotional. Celebrating our vibrant lifestyle events and the celebrations of our 30th Anniversary has been such a great way to start 2021 and set the tone for the forthcoming year.”
