Opened in February 2017 and situated within our Romford Care Centre building, we are very proud of Amy’s Park - our new, vibrant and fresh Dementia living area.
Amy’s Park is designed to give our residents greater independence and happy living for the years ahead.
With specially designed ‘nostalgia corners’, our residents are able to participate in one-to-one reminiscence therapy. Iconic memorabilia in themed areas, such as music, arts & crafts, exercising & sports, all help to promote memory experiences and give our carers and residents the opportunity to share and learn about each other’s lives.
A great amount of thought has been put into the design of Amy’s Park to make the experience as Dementia-friendly as possible. Doors and hand rails are a distinctly different shade of colour from the walls to ensure our residents are able to easily distinguish between them.
Even our residents’ own front doors to their rooms can be personalised with particular colours or door numbers to help improve orientation and encourage them to feel at home.
Meal times are also specially geared towards enabling our residents to eat independently. Dining crockery and cutlery is coloured and arranged so that our residents can clearly see their food which encourages a positive meal time experience.
Social opportunities are designed to be person-centred and our wide and varied activity programme means our residents never feel lonely or isolated – our home is always full of smiles and we firmly believe that laughter is the best medicine!
Situated in Harold Hill, Essex we are easy to reach by road via the A12 and M25. We have easy access to a good public transport network of buses and trains. Nearby amenities include shops, pubs and restaurants.
At Amy’s Park we provide care and support to people at all stages of their Dementia journey. Find out more about our dementia strategy here.
