Summer at RCH Care Group has kicked off with a bang with each of our homes hosting their own summer events. From a T-Birds and Pink Ladies celebration at Orchard House Nursing Home where staff and residents dressed up and enjoyed some Grease themed entertainment, to a Summer Fete at Manton Heights Care Centre, to a Barbeque and Karaoke event at Atlas Home Support, summer is officially here and we’re all ready to kick back and relax. Glass of Pimms anyone?

Maidstone Care Centre began the summer festivities with their Open Day on Sunday 22nd April which coincided with National Tea Day and the Queen’s birthday. As we all love any excuse for a spot of tea and some delicious home-made cakes, the residents had a High Afternoon Tea on the decking area where they could enjoy their cakes and tea, whilst soaking up the sun during one of England’s few sunny days without a cloud in sight.

Maidstone Care Centre continued the summer fun on May Day by inviting some Morris dancers to the home. The jury is still out on who enjoyed the dancing more: the residents or their families!

On Friday 15th June, Orchard House Nursing Home hosted a lovely Summer Buffet with an Irish singer which the residents loved singing along to. Not only did they enjoy their sing a long, but they also had lots of fun picking strawberries they had grown themselves and enjoying those same strawberries with a dash (or a few dollops) of clotted cream.

A little bit further south than Wisbech had Manton Heights Care Centre also hosting their Summer Fete on the same day. With live entertainment, balloon modelling, a traditional Punch and Judy show, face painting, ice cream and lots more, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all residents, family members, staff and the wider public. However, we’re still waiting to hear if Rob Ashton, the Home Manager, was persuaded into getting his face painted – and if photos were taken afterwards!

Monday 25th June saw Orchard House Nursing Home celebrating their T-Birds and Pink Ladies event. We found a lot of the attendees decide they were Born To Hand Jive, and many more were ready to sing along to Summer Nights.

On Tuesday 26th June, Park View Care Centre had Teapot Tuesday with, you’ve guessed it, lots of tea! Live entertainment, a cup of tea, and some lovely company – what more could you ask for on a lovely sunny day?

All of our homes will be hosting a variety of summer events over the next few months. After all, we’re just getting started with our summer plans! Please contact us for more information on upcoming events or if you would like to have one of our homes to host one of your events.
