Romford Nursing Care Centre take part in 6K walk to mark this week’s Dementia ActionThis week residents and staff of Romford Nursing Care Centre took park in a 6K walk to support Dementia Action Week – a fantastic campaign led by the Alzheimer’s Society.

This year the aim of the campaign is to unite and take action, no matter how big or small, so that we can make everyday life better for people affected by dementia. The team at the residential and nursing home in Neave Crescent took to the streets for their action, dressed head to toe in blue to both raise awareness, as well as funds for this fantastic cause.

The walk took place on Monday, and with the sun shining on, residents and family members joined members of the care team to walk from the home around the local area, taking in Raphael Park along the way, and their efforts have paid off, with just under £600 raised so far!

Home Manager Tania Banner said “Dementia is a cause very close to all of our hearts here at Romford, so we are delighted to be able to do all that we can to support this fantastic campaign”

This event follows big celebrations which took place at the home last week after the team were delighted to have Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador Terry Eccott officially open the new dementia care suite at the home.
