Spring 2018 saw the world gripped by Royal Fever, and our care homes were no exception either. We had cake, we had celebrations, we had bunting and we’re now just waiting for the next happy occasion so we can start all over again!
Romford Nursing Care Centre began the royal celebrations by opening its doors on Saturday 21st April to the local community to mark National Care Home Open Day with a fun filled family event. The annual celebration takes place in care homes across the country, and we’re pleased to state it is now in its 6th year.
Residents, family and friends basked in the glorious sunshine with 3 musical acts, a fantastic stilt walker, a delicious barbeque and cakes galore to round off a thoroughly enjoyable event for all.
As this event coincided with the Queen’s 92nd birthday celebrations, we were delighted to see so many of our guests fully immersing themselves in the experience by joining in with the royal themed fancy dress competition, and there were a number of colourful faces wandering around thanks to the (previously unknown) face painting talents of Home Manager Tania Banner.
May 2018 saw one of the most highly anticipated events of the year with Prince Harry tying the knot with Meghan Markle. Whilst hearts were breaking up and down the country, Queens Court Nursing Home and Maidstone Care Centre thought it would be more fun to break some eggs and bake some cakes instead (it’s all about keeping that stiff upper lip after all).
Maidstone held a Wedding Celebration Garden Party on Friday 18th May with their own design for a wedding cake, tea and music – all in their garden marquee. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the celebration!
Queens Court didn’t want to miss a single second of the Royal Wedding so they held an indoor street party where residents could watch the wedding on TV while Pimms flowed from their brand new bar.
