The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is MacMillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. Every year, people all over the world host their own Coffee Morning, and proceeds from the day are donated to the charity. Since the first Coffee Morning in 1990, over £200m has been raised to help the fight against cancer.
On Friday 28th September 2018, we joined the cause by hosting Coffee Mornings across five of our care homes. Atlas Home Support, our supported living facility for people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, sensory impairment, and autism, joined in with the baking, tasting and fundraising, too.

Residents at Brentwood Care Centre in Essex and Park View Care Centre in Ashford (Kent) got their hands dirty in the kitchen and baked cakes to sell to visitors.

Staff and residents at Queens Court Nursing Home, Buckhurst Hill, found their inner Mary Berry and baked the weirdest and wildest cakes they could. Keeping with the TV theme, there was even a chance for residents and staff to get their hands on a much sought-after Brucie Bonus in a fiercely competitive cake decorating Generation Game event.
Chelmsford-based singer Robert Jerome provided the entertainment at Queens Court, and everyone had a good old singalong.
“Some of the staff and residents here have been affected by cancer, and we felt it was a worthy cause to help. We had a great morning playing games, from guessing the length of the sausage roll to placing a cherry on the cake.
