Brentwood Care Centre, part of Essex based RCH Care Home group, provides high quality, residential and nursing care as well as specialist support to older adults living with dementia.  Our highly trained and dedicated care team use the latest evidence based, best-practice approaches to promote the health and well-being of all those in our care.  Our ‘By Your Side – Bringing Quality to Life’ Dementia Strategy, ensures that on daily basis we are exceeding expectations for residents. We take a holistic approach to supporting everyone’s unique experience of Dementia and try to understand how their life story, personality, physical health, cognitive impairment and the social world around them can impact on their well-being.

Our care team is supported by Head of Dementia and Development at RCH, Emma Hewat who works with Mel Cole, Brentwood Care Centre’s dedicated Dementia Ambassador and Torie Pollard, the Registered Home Manager to drive forward the implementation of the dementia strategy and improve the quality of dementia services.

The strategy ensures that all staff, no matter what job they hold within the home, are trained and competent in their roles and also understand the services we provide. All staff come in to contact with those people we support and it is important that they understand Dementia and how this may affect a person’s needs, but also how they may need to present themselves and adapt and change how they work to support individuals in our care.” Brentwood Care Centre Registered Manager Torie Pollard.

Brentwood Care Centre, a purpose-built care home, is designed to be provide a safe and supportive environment, allowing residents to retain their independence, enjoy activities they have always been interested in, as well as engaging in new experiences.  To enhance our lifestyle programme, we have recently introduced innovative technologies such as ‘Tovertafel’, Touch Screen Activity Tables and ‘Movitech Virtual Reality world tour’s. These evidence-based approaches improve the emotional and physical wellbeing of residents as well as recognise the value of maintaining relationships with family, friends and the local community, helping us to enable all the people in our care to live well in later life.
