Queens Court Nursing Home in Buckhurst Hill, Essex provides a warm, welcoming, home-from-home atmosphere. We provide a high level of care for people with dementia as well as those with a physical disability and older residents.

Our ethos is to promote independence and choice and ensure that every resident is treated as an individual, helping them to spend each day doing the things they enjoy most.

All of our staff receive quality training from both in-house and external trainers. Our staff turnover is low, reflecting the warm yet highly professional environment we have created at Queens Court.

Daily life

At Queens Court Nursing Home, our dementia -friendly care includes encouraging independence and choice and our activities programme reflects this, with a diverse range of activities available to suit all tastes.

We have a residents’ committee which meets once every other month. We regularly arrange outings to the cinema, pubs and seaside resorts and entertainers visit the home each month. We hold a music morning twice a week, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy light exercise, and residents are encouraged to assist staff with small tasks such as preparing the dining room for meal times, helping them to keep active and provide the opportunity to chat with staff.

A mobile library visits each month and newspapers are delivered to the home daily. If residents wish to attend religious services outside the home we will help them to do so. We also have a priest who visits regularly to worship with the residents and give them communion.

We believe it is important for our residents to enjoy meal times and we offer plenty of choice, to suit different tastes and cultural backgrounds. Menus are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that meals are tasty and nutritious. Residents are free to choose where they would like to eat, either in the dining room or in their own room.

Health care

We pride ourselves on providing a high level of care within the home and residents are able to access other health services on a regular basis.  Residents can choose to remain with their own GP or register with the home’s resident GP.

Each room has en suite facilities and is decorated to high standards. A colour television and telephone points are also available in each room. Residents are encouraged to bring small items such as ornaments and pictures to make their own room feel even more homely.

A nurse call system is available, giving residents and their relatives peace of mind, around the clock.

Our communal areas create an environment where residents can socialise with each other or visitors, chat to staff or relax on their own. We have six spacious lounges and dining rooms, with some lounges having access to the patio areas and gardens.
